Common Mistakes & Misunderstandings
Not the same as mathematical not-equal or empty-set symbols: Those symbols (≠, ∅, ¬) are pre-composed Unicode characters. This tool applies the combining solidus overlay to arbitrary characters, which is different from those dedicated mathematical symbols.
Rendering consistency varies: The combining long solidus overlay (U+0338) is a combining character that attaches to the preceding glyph. How it renders depends on the font — some fonts draw it cleanly centred through the character; others may draw it too high, too low, or at an odd angle.
